Triumph Tiger Sport 800 revealed, likely to replace Tiger 850 Sport

Triumph Tiger Sport 800 : There’s a new Tiger Sport, an 800 Sports, that takes over from the old 850 Sport. It puts out 115hp and 84Nm of torque from a 798cc, 3-cylinder engine making it quite a lot better than its 2022 facelifted Tiger 900 GT brother.
Standard fit on board is cruise control and a bidirectional quickshifter. Riding mode options are three: Sport, Road, and Rain, weight 214kg and the fuel tank 18.6 litres.

The new Tiger Sport 800 has been more road-focused than its predecessor. Where the 850 Sport had a 19/17-inch wheeling, the new model gets both of its wheels shod with 17-inchers. It’s been shod with sticky sport-touring Michelin Road 5 tyres sized 120/70-ZR17 (front) and 180/55-ZR17 (rear), meaning its styling and tyre sizes are now in line with the smaller Tiger Sport 660.

Suspension comes naturally to this motorcycle. It is helped by a 41mm USD fork as well as a monoshock by Showa. The former has compression as well as preload adjustability, while the latter-coming from the same stable-is right out of the box, primed for rebound as well as preload adjustability. Interestingly, however, this one also possesses a convenient remote adjuster for preload.

Brakes for the motorcycle have been well cared for with Triumph-branded radially mounted 4-piston calipers paired with 310mm discs up front and a single piston caliper with a 255mm disc at the rear. A total weight of 214kg ensues with a full 18.6-litre tank, giving a respectable range.

Although the Tiger Sport 800 doesn’t boast a list of the most electronics rider aids, the most important are in place: three types of riding modes, including Sport, Road and Rain, cruise control, bidirectional quickshifter, traction control and dual-channel ABS. All these functions are complemented by six-axis IMU for accurate intervention. However, controls for the bike remain controlled on the same display as in Daytona 660 and Tiger Sport 660.

For those customers who prefer more convenience, there are a number of accessories available from the Triumph accessory catalogue, including a centerstand and colour-matched panniers. Outside North America the Tiger Sport 800 will be available in four colours from March 2025 – Yellow, Blue, Black, and Grey. Indian launch sometime next year or 2026. The direct competitors will be the BMW F 900 XR, Ducati Multistrada V2, and the just-launched Kawasaki Versys 1100. The outgoing Tiger 850 Sport was priced at Rs 11.95 lakh, so expect a similar value for the new 800 upon its market arrival.
