Odisha man uses Alexa to launch Diwali rocket in Viral Video
Odisha man uses Alexa to launch Diwali rocket: A tech enthusiast from Odisha has become the latest internet sensation. Last week, Mani uploaded a video onto his Instagram page, “Mani’s Projects Lab,” that showcased an interesting experiment: firing a firecracker using a simple voice command to Amazon’s Alexa.
The video has garnered millions of views, depicting Mani instructing Alexa, “Alexa, launch the rocket.” It responds and starts the rocket launch sequence, sending the firecracker into the sky.
The very fact that this was an outstanding achievement made quite a number of users wonder how this was possible. So, Mani created a tutorial on YouTube for building a smart rocket launch system using an ESP32/ESP8266 microcontroller and integrating it into Alexa. Users can now trigger a relay from distance simulating a rocket launch through voice command.
Mani’s experimental video also went viral for Amazon Alexa India and Swiggy Instamart, thereby underscoring its out-of-the-box approach.
Speaking exclusively to India Today Digital, Mani talks about the roots of experimentation. While he completed BTech in 2024, he is still working on this hobby. Having an active job search going on, Mani keeps balancing interesting DIYs that he makes from his hometown Raighar.
