Thailand’s viral hippo: In the latest Internet sensation, Thailand’s celebrity pygmy hippo, Moo Deng, has reached new heights by “predicting” the outcome of the 2024 US presidential election. At a fun event organized by her zoo, Moo Deng was given the playful task of choosing between two contenders for the White House: Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
The setup was pretty straightforward: two bright orange pumpkins, both carved with one of the candidates’ names. To the delight of the crowd, Moo Deng waddled on over to the pumpkin displaying “Trump” and started nibbling it away, leaving the pumpkin bearing Harris’ name for a bigger hippo waiting in the wings for the snack.
The video of Moo Deng’s “prediction” quickly went viral, and fans who are curious whether the hippo’s choice might actually be fulfilled poured in with a flood of comments, with some speculating that Trump might indeed be the 47th President of the United States.
One saw the humor and termed it the “Hippo Fortune Teller.” Another wrote that “I know this is all just for laughs, and only the hyper-litigious extreme left would be offended by this, but I think Moo Deng should rise above the politics.”
The big hippo picked the pumpkin of the name Kamala Harris; therefore, maybe, after all, the picking by Moo Deng of the one with the name of Trump was not an all chanced deal.
