Bibek Debroy, Chairman Of PM’s Economic Advisory Council, Dies At 69
Bibek Debroy dies at 69: Bibek Debroy, renowned economist, and chairman of Prime Minister Modi’s Economic Advisory Council passed away today. Earlier, Padma Shri award winner Debroy had been chancellor at Pune’s Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE).
Prime Minister Modi in his condolence message has described Mr. Debroy as a “towering scholar.” He said through a social media post that “Dr. Bibek Debroy Ji was a towering scholar, well-versed in diverse domains like economics, history, culture, politics, and spirituality. Through his works, he left an indelible mark on India’s intellectual landscape. Beyond his contributions to public policy, he enjoyed working on our ancient texts, making them accessible to the youth.”
Paying tributes, union minister Dharmendra Pradhan said: “I am deeply saddened at the passing away of Dr. Bibek Debroy. He was a leading economist, prolific author and an outstanding academician. His guidance to policy action would always be remembered for various issues concerning economics and big contribution towards the development of India. His columns added and enriched millions. This will leave behind a monumental legacy in economics, in academics and in literature. I pay my heartfelt tributes to his family members and friends. Almighty grant sadgati to the soul. Om Shanti.
Debroy was a prolific writer. So, he had as a regular columnist for NDTV, leaving a massive impact in both economics and literature.
