NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Atishi inspected preparations at ITO Ghat for Chhath Puja on Monday, while stating that the city had prepared more than 1,000 sites in the capital for the festival.

“Chhath ghats are being erected at more than 1,000 places in the city. All our ministers and MLAs are actively visiting the spots. I request the BJP not to politicize Chhath Puja,” Atishi said.
The sun-worshipping festival across Indian states as well as all over the world is going to be observed from November 5 to 8 this year.
Earlier, Atishi had also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party for doing “cheap politics” as she had accused the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) of denying entry for Purvanchalis who wanted to celebrate Chhath Puja as the gates were being shut. The DDA is actually an establishment of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.
The Chief Minister said DDA was also not letting people visit Chhath Ghat in Greater Kailash.
Atishi had already declared November 7 as a public holiday in the National Capital Territory since it was very important to the residents of Delhi.
Chhath Puja, which boasts an exceptionally high number of female participants, is enthusiastically celebrated. It is also an occasion when they are given time away from all household works to recharge.
It is mainly observed in Bihar and Jharkhand, parts of Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal and the diaspora from these regions. The four-day festival is among the most significant and rigorous in the country, having severe rituals and subsequent fasting to thank Sun God for the preservation of human life on Earth.
