On this day in 1996, KK gave playback singing by way of the song “Chhod Aaye Hum,” and his incredible career that stood the test of generations began. Romantic ballads like “Khuda Jaane” and “Beetein Lamhe” have made KK more popular, though he has sung in several languages, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Assamese, and Gujarati to name a few.
Who Was KK?
Born on 23rd August, 1968, in Delhi, India, Krishnakumar Kunnath pursued his higher education from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University, and began working as a marketer before completely focusing on music. KK began his singing career doing jingle advertisements and gained popularity through the superhit track of 1996, “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko” for the film Baazigar. This track very soon made him one of the playback singers in the Indian film world.
Musical Journey
KK’s versatility is one of his highly appreciated qualities. He sang songs in all Indian languages-from Hindi to Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali. His ability in adapting himself to one of the most diverse musical cultures differentiate him from most of his contemporaries. Of course, some of his most unforgettable tracks include:
